hohoho... funny enough, it is difficult to find a word to describe how it went.

it was like erm, a nightmare with a happy ending. lol. why? ya see in a Guildhall drumkit exam candidates get to choose between a pitched or an unpitched aural exam. for the pitched aural exam u do a bit of singing n conducting, whereas in an unpitched one u have to accompany the melody played on the piano and repeat the rhythmic pattern played by the examiner on the drums - so i found the pitched ones much easier, n i chose that in advance. but guess what the examiner hasn't got the book og pitched exams with him!!

he said he'd take the fact that i've prepared for the pitched exam but not the unpitched exam into account. i was quite mad actually cuz i had the confidence to get a high score in a pitched aural exam!! however when i told mr hamilton about it he said i'd get full marks for my aural if we write to the exam board...

so hope that it'd come true. muahaha.

stress is finally lifting - but i gotta catch up with maths. dun wanna start doing maths tho it reli gets onto my nerves. ughhh.

i swear i've never been this busy my whole life before...

this term's just been sooooo intense... i'm surprised that i survived thru it.

i can't imagine what would happen next term. god. SATs and mocks together, with a singing exam and more YE too.

anyway... here's my review... finally relatively freer to type it up lol. tried to be as unbiased as possible! (psst, may contain spoiler if you haven't read the book yet)



The Goblet of Fire has got to be the best out of the four Harry Potter movies so far. Adaptations to the original book by J.K. Rowling are skillfully done, as complications in the book are avoided smoothly. This movie is not as 'chunky' as its predecessor, however, the Quidditch World Cup scene is a bit rushed and the tension starts almost at the moment you settle yourself down in your seat.

Relationships are introduced in this movie, adding another interesting perspective which even non-potter fans would find fascinating. One point I did not like about the movies is that they seem to bring out Hermione and Harry's friendship too much that Ron and Hermione's relationship is not emphasised enough. Nevertheless with the help of the Yule Ball Ron and Hermione's affair has become more apparent.

Emma Watson's (Hermione) performance may be seen as over-the-top by some, but you can easily spot maturity her acting skill. Rupert Grint (Ron) is definitely good at being comical, and even Daniel Radcliffe (Harry)'s acting has improved in this one! (just ignore the fact that they've grown uglier.) James and Oliver Phelps (Fred and George Weasley) have much bigger parts in the Goblet, providing more chances for them to shine (and more opportunities for laughter!). The three other champions do not have much to say, although Clemense Poesy (Fleur Delacour) seem to be the best actor out of the three. Viktor Krum is simply scary, and Cedric is a cutie. Cho Chang played by Katie Leung, who has quite a distinctive Scottish accent, does not have many lines either. Tom Felton's (Draco Malfoy) appearances on screen are very limited, but he appears in one of the most remarkable scences in the movie in a different form. (You'll see!)

The best actor out of the whole cast has to be Mad-Eye Moody. As the new paranoid DADA teacher, Brendan Gleeson portrayed this two-faced character so well that the twist at the end would work perfectly for anyone who hasn't read the book (or who could not remember the book). Ralph Fiennes' Voldemort is near perfect, apart from that I could spot a tinge of Gollum's figure in Voldemort's appearance; Voldemort would've looked scarier if he was more human-like.

Atmosphere has also helped this movie gain another merit. The dark side of the story introduced in this movie is effectively presented. The audience would be drawn by the scene in which Harry carried Cedric's body back, as the news of Cedric's death gradually sinks into the students of Hogwarts. The excitement and anxiety brought by the 3 tasks is clearly shown on the gasps of the audience. Special effects are incredible - dragons are exceptionally lively.

Apart from the dark storyline, another reason not to let any children under 12 to watch this movie on his/her own is because of some slightly 'teenage' jokes inthe movie. (wouldn't say it's adult 'cause they haven't really reached that level yet.) Moaning Myrtle and Harry in bath seriously seem a bit wrong, and the lovey dovey moments of Hagrid and Madame Maxime seem to be somewhat gross. Cheesy moments are unavoidable, but the ending in this one is certainly better than the abrupt ending of the last movie.

Note that non-readers may find difficulty in understanding the plot. My advice is - bring someone who remembers the plot with you and talk you through it before you watch it - then it would not be a problem at all! X)

anyway... enuf of these 'seung dong leen's... haha* life's been mega-busy nowadays, even when vintage / D of E / performance showcase etc is over. i mean, it's exeat this weekend. supposed to be a relaxing weekend - but guess what we're having a 1 hour test on Dr Hutton's chem topics next week!!! and we have do a full write-up on one of the physics experiments for Mr GH, AND we have a physics test the week after this. OH and there's Worcester Trade Fair, Good Food Show, College Concert, Advert Carol Service coming up...


i dun think i'll be able to breathe until the term's over.

i do know what u mean... i think i shud take it slowly as joan has said... the reason why i wanted to go to the US is becuz they have a broader course to start off with... in other words i dun have to specialise in a specific area too soon, before i actually know what the course is about. but i guess that doesn't always happen... in fact if i do natural sciences here in the UK i may something similar! so i guess i'll just see how it goes the second time... if they're still not good enough then i'll just forget about US, i think...

mum suggested that perhaps i shud do my undergrad degree in the UK, and do postgrad in the US if possible. that was what ppl advised me from the start... the thing is i didn't want to give up the SATs yet. i thought i could've done better than this, so i felt very upset about it for a while.

i know, going to UK is not a bad thing at all!! in fact at the beginning i did not want to go to american universities, becuz i'd be away from all my frds, i have to do so much to TRY to get in, and i have to get used to a brand new environment. it must be quite a hard time, unless i live close to my uncles and aunts in california. but my parents encouraged to do more and more research about the US. not that i fully understand both education systems right now, but the more i get into the US universities the more i felt that i dun wanna waste my efforts for nothing. i know it sounds stupid, and at the end i may have wasted much more effort than i have already, but i dun wanna think of myself as "failing or not being bothered to get in, and that's why i'm now sticking to my UK universities"... however that's, in a way, the truth isn't it...!

so basically the truth hurts i just have to learn to accept it. but there's stil a tiny bit of hope on the next SAT... but somehow i have the feeling that i'm gonna end up in the UK, so i'm gonna have all this time wasted and that drives me crazy. i suppose i can call myself having the "time-wasting-phobia" if that makes sense... if everyone has a certain something that would annoy them, mine would be time-wasting. it's a thing i have. besides the next SAT is quite close to my mocks as well so guess i can't go out much in the christmas holidays... *sigh*
